Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo

The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, a Project of the Mobile Jaycees, is the largest fishing tournament in the world. Founded in 1929, the fishing rodeo now attracts over 3,000 anglers and 75,000 spectators. It is located on Dauphin Island, Ala. (N30 15'31, 90" W88 06'47.78).

Horizon Shipbuilding delivers seventh 140-foot towboat to Florida Marine Transporters

BAYOU LA BATRE, Alabama – Horizon Shipbuilding Inc. has delivered its seventh 140-foot towboat for Florida Marine Transporters, the M/V Capt. Phillip Box. The vessel, named for FMT's longtime captain, was designed by John Gilbert and was launched in April at Horizon's Bayou La Batre facility. The towboat measures 140 feet in length and 42 feet in width, with a 9-foot, 6-inch draft.
